How can I reduce my carbon footprint?

Want to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle but don’t know where to start? Not sure what habits can have a real impact on reducing emissions? We show you how you can reduce your carbon footprint.

We have recently published the final report of our study Cartografía Carbono, in its 2020 edition, which shows the carbon footprint of the spanish society. The report focuses on lifestyle habits.

The key to reduce your carbon footprint lies in food and transport.

Although each person is different, we know the trends based on different ways of classifying the population. 76% of the carbon footprint of participants living in Spain is concentrated in the categories of transport and food.

This means that the key to reducing CO2 emissions and combating climate change on an individual basis can only be achieved by encouraging people to rationalise their journeys, for example when going on holiday, replacing private vehicles with other alternatives such as public transport or other non-emitting alternatives, and changing their eating habits. In this last point, specifically the reduction of beef and sheep meat intake is the change that can have the greatest impact.

On the other hand, although desirable, energy saving habits at home are not the most effective way to achieve significant improvements in greenhouse gas emissions.
